Sustainable Development Goals by United Nation

The United Nation is an intergovernmental to promote international co-operation. A replacement for the ineffective League of Nations, The organization was established on 24 october 1945 after World War II in order to prevent another such conflict. At its founding the UN had 51 member states, there are  now 195.

The headquarters of the United Nations is in Manhattan, New York City and experiences extraterritoriality. Further more main office are situated in Geneva, Nairobi and Vienna

The UN most prominent officer is the Secretary-General, an office held by South Korean Ban Ki-Moon Since 2007and have been changed by Antonio Guterres from Portugal in 1 January 2017 and The organization won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2001, and a number of its officers and agencies have also been awarded the prize..

The organization is financed by assessed and voluntary contributions from its member states. Its objective include maintaining international peace and security, promoting human right, fostering social and economic development, protecting the environment, and providing humanitarian aid in cases of famine, natural disaster, and armed conflict.

The UN has six principal organs: The General Assembly (the main deliberate assembly); the Security Council (for deciding certain resolutions for peace and security); the Economic and Social Council (for promoting international economic and social co-operation and development); the Secretariat (for providing studies, information, and facilities needed by the UN); the International Court of Justice (the primary judicial organ) and the United Nations Trusreeship Council (inactive since 1994).

UN system have specialized agencies some best-known  are the World Bank Group, the World Health Organization, UNESCO, UNICEF and Others. The UN perfoms most of its humanitarian work trough these agencies. Example include mass vaccination programs (trough WHO), the avoidance of famine and malnutrition (trough WFP) and the protection of vulnerable and displaced people(by UNCHR).

Now I want to tell you about and primary purpose of the United Nation to achieve international co-operation in solving international problems of an economic, social, cultural or humanitarian character and it is called  Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), What are SDGs? The Sustainable Development Goals otherwise known as the Global Goals, are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity adopted on 25 september 2016

These 17 Goals and associated 169 targets, part of a wider 2030 Agenda for sustainable build on the successes of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), while including new areas such as climate change, economic inequality, innovation, sustainable consumption, peace and justice, among other priorities the goal are interconnected

The SDGs work in the spirit of partnership and pragmatism to make the right choices now to improve life, in sustainable way, for future generations. They provide clear guidelines and targets for all countries to adopt in accordance with their own priorities and the environmental challenges of the world at large.

Unfortunately, in a goodness of SDGs, Its have any critique such as A commentary in The Economist argued that the 169 targets for the SDGs are too many, calling them “misconceived” and “a mess” compared the MDGs. The SDGs have been criticized for being contradictory, because in seeking high levels of global GDP growth, a growing number of scholar are pointing out that $1.25 (That mentioned in the first goals) is actually not adequate for human subsistence, and the poverty line should be revised to as high as $5.

In Conclusion SDGs is the a good plan provide by United Nation, we are stonger when we work together to save the world, reaffirm that supporting development is not charity, but is instead one of the smartest we can make in our own future.
